Menopause MOT

Do I need a Menopause MOT?

The Menopause MOT is a comprehensive pelvic health assessment for any woman who is perimenopausal or postmenopausal which is any woman from her early 40’s onwards! It does not matter whether they are experiencing menopause or pelvic floor symptoms, or just want to do what they can to prevent them in the future. The mid life is a time in a women’s’ life where due to conflicting demands of a growing family, often alongside a career and aging parents, her health commonly takes a back seat. Often niggling problems such as leaking urine, feelings of a prolapse or painful sex are just put down to ‘life’ and something to put up with. This is not the case. Leaking urine, although common, is not normal; you can do something about a prolapse & sex does not have to be painful. The Menopause MOT helps identify any weaknesses and gives you exercises, knowledge and tools to move forward with the next stage in your life.

What does the Menopause MOT involve?

A thorough assessment with our women’s health specialist which will cover:

  • A discussion of your medical history, any menopause symptoms you might be experiencing and lifestyle factors that might influence your perimenopause and post menopause health and wellness. This will include a more detailed discussion about your pelvic floor, bladder, and bowel function as well as any issues with sex and a discussion about any musculoskeletal problems you may be experiencing

  • An assessment of your lumbar and pelvic movement patterns, as well as an assessment of your core and abdominal muscles.

  • An internal assessment to ass your pelvic floor muscles to enable an accurate exercise programme to be prescribed.

You will leave the Menopause MOT with exercise and lifestyle advice, both general, and specific to any problems you might be experiencing as well as a personalised pelvic floor exercise programme based on the findings of your internal assessment.

You will also be provided information on other services that might be of help during your journey through the menopause such as a Gynaecologist, Specialist Women’s Health & Menopause GP, Nutritionist, or Women’s Health Fitness Pro.
